ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - The World Bank
said Wednesday it has approved a $500 million credit to support Pakistan's economic
reforms and debt reduction strategy over the next three years. The credit was triggered by a number of reforms already under way, including government reform and increased spending on social services such as education. John Wall, the World Bank's representative for Pakistan, said the country will continue to receive financial aid as long as it continues reforms. The World Bank "today recognized the commitment to reform shown so far by the government of Pakistan and, simultaneously, sent a firm message to move even faster," he said.
